  • Best Templete Design: Squarespace offers one of the most stunning templates of any web-based builder.

  • Value for money: Starting at $12 to $40 per month. They are still full of features and affordable.

  • Less design freedom: Squarespace templates offer less design freedom than Webflow's. They're box -base, and are not as flexible as Webflow's.

  • Less room for growth: Squarespace does not have the ability to host large sites.

  • No auto saves facility: There is not available so you will have to save your work manually as you go.

You can run a small- to the medium-sized website, whether it’s creative or ecommerce. Squarespace is an excellent choice because it offers high-quality, affordable plans. Squarespace’s in-house features allow small websites to grow.

Eeasy to use

Squarespace is more straightforward to use than Webflow.
Both builders are easy to sign up for, but Webflow is far more user-friendly than Squarespace when it comes to customizing your template or making the most of valuable tools.

Getting Started

Both Squarespace, as well as Webflow offer a quick and straightforward signup process.

Webflow will ask you a few questions about yourself and what type of website you are interested in.

webflow getting started

You don’t have to worry if your level of experience is low. Webflow will also ask you about it! Once you’ve completed the process, you can access the editor of your website.

When you sign up for Squarespace, the first thing you will do is select one of their world-class templates to use on your website. You can also preview all of them before making your decision.

Then you are in! The dashboard will open, and you can customize your site.

Editing your site

There are various tricks and tips to help create your first website using Webflow.

webflow editing

It was a great tool that we found very useful, at least initially.

However, unlike Squarespace, webflow’s guided tour cannot be skipped. If you aren’t quick to pick up the basics, you might find it frustrating that you have to go through the entire tour before you can start.

Webflow’s drag and drop editor can be confusing, so we recommend you stay for the tour.

It’s not very drag-and-drop – although you can place different elements on pages, such as text boxes where you want them, you will need to look into the dimensions and line spacing to customize your layout.

webflow page builder

The Webflow page builder is much more complicated than Squarespace’s. It may grasp time to master it.

Webflow is an online site builder, therefore you don’t need to worry about anxiety (like many other code) However, Squarespace may be easier to get used to.

The template editor of Squarespace features the most user-friendly interface, and is more sections-based in comparison to the Webflow’s.

squarespace editor

It’s simple to add pages components to the Squarespace design template. You’ll also have many options (like these for images).

After you have added a section to your site, click on the text to edit it and drag different elements around (such as buttons or text boxes) within the section.

squarespace simple editor

Squarespace’s editor has one problem: you can’t drag elements exactly where you want them to be – just in a general direction. The element will then autoformat around what’s already there.

Take a look at what happened when you drag the gray “Contact” button down below your contact information:

squarespace drag and drop

Although it looks great, we couldn’t move it around in that area. Although it may feel limited, the final result is always spectacular! Squarespace makes it nearly impossible to design a bad site.

It’s possible to think you’re bias, however the final results are always breathtaking.

You might read our Wix review if you value total drag-and-drop freedom. Wix scored the highest in ease-of-use, and its template editor is more accessible than both Squarespace and Webflow.

Set up your domain

A successful website requires more than just well-designed pages. You must ensure that your domain name is easily accessible to visitors.

The name of  domain is your site’s “address” on internet – such as , ours is askjitendrakumar.com.

You may select a customized  domain name and pay around \$10-20 per year. You can’t use a custom domain name if you are on a free website building plan. Instead, you will need to use one that is connected to yoursite.webflow.io.

Squarespace offers a free custom domain during the first year of each plan. You can register it and buy it through Squarespace. You do not require to go via domain name registrars.

Instead, your Squarespace dashboard can be used to manage your website and domain. After the first year, these domains are free to renew for $20 per annum. It’s on the upper point of the range for averages.

Webflow, however utilizes third-party providers such as GoDaddy and Google for registration of domain names.

After you have purchased your domain from a third party, you will need to manually modify your domain’s settings to make it connect to your Webflow website.

With Webflow, you can use a custom domain, but Squarespace makes it much more manageable.

Website Design

It’s a tie!
While Webflow allows for more design freedom, it requires more technical knowledge. Squarespace offers less flexibility but better templates to start with.

Webflow: Lots of liberty but Lots of attempt

Webflow is more challenging to utilize than Squarespace however it’s well worthwhile if you are prepared to design using this more technical platform.

weblow design

Webflow’s editor offers more detail than Squarespace’s. It allows you to customize every aspect of your template.

You can adjust every aspect of your page, including the border widths and color shades. Additionally, you can create custom animations that will give your pages a personal touch.

Although the templates are not unique, Squarespace’s templates are more striking. While Webflow has over 500 templates available, only 50 are free. However, Webflow allows you to customize your template however you like.

webflow templates

Although Webflow’s templates aren’t beautiful, there is plenty of room to customize them.

Webflow’s design limitations include the inability to change templates after selecting one. If you find a design you like better, this can be a problem.

Squarespace: Less Freedom but Better Quality

Squarespace is easier to use than Webflow. However, Squarespace’s design customization is somewhat limited. We don’t mean to say that you cannot change fonts or personalize color schemes.

You can also switch between page layouts. The only difference is that Squarespace templates aren’t as customizable as Webflow templates.

We think that this is a powerful site builder. In fact, Squarespace ranked first in our design category. The 113 templates it offers are top-notch – and all of them are free.

squarespace templates

Squarespace has stunning templates. You can filter them by industry and website type.

You may build your site differently through the template of Webflow. Squarespace templates are designed to take care of most of your design work. All you have to do is draw attention to it.

Squarespace allows you to switch between templates at any time.

Pricing and Value for Money

Squarespace is more affordable than Webflow.
Webflow’s more expensive plans offer powerful features for developers, while Squarespace’s plans are best suited for smaller to medium-sized websites.

Webflow’s 50GB bandwidth offer is sufficient for smaller sites. However, Webflow’s cheapest plan doesn’t provide as many features.

Webflow’s advanced plans are worth it if you value flexibility, design freedom, and customization. For example, take Webflow’s $74/month Ecommerce Plus Plan.

Performance And Security

It’s a tie!
Squarespace and Webflow will help you keep your site running smoothly.

Webflow and Squarespace offer SSL certificates with all plans. It is the main aspect of website security. However, before you choose a website builder, consider essential aspects regarding security and performance.

Uptime

Your website’s uptime (or availability to visitors) is how long your website is actually online. It is measured on an annual basis. It would be ideal for every website to have 100% uptime. However, it is impossible to guarantee this.

Instead, you should aim for a minimum of 99.9% uptime. We are not speaking about of 1% here. Your website’s reliability will make it easier for your visitors to trust you.

Squarespace and Webflow both offer 99.90% uptime. This translates into less than nine hours per year. You can also expect less since 99.90% is a higher minimum for these platforms.

Backups

It is always a good idea for your website to be up-to-date in case of an emergency.

Squarespace’s editor does not automatically save your progress. It was a significant problem we encountered when using Squarespace. It would be best to remember to hit “save” every time you move to ensure everything is backed up.

Squarespace stores backup copies of your website on primary and second servers. You can also restore pages up to thirty days after that will be delete. We’ll just let the autosave feature go.

Webflow will not leave you in the dark about your needs. You can still reach the team via email, but you’ll likely have to wait between 24 and 48 hours for a reply.
