How To Install WordPress On a Subdomain Using cPanel?

The standard way to install WordPress is obviously through your entire domain this means that using your regular address leads to your home page.

But this may not be a feasible case at every time. There might be some situations where you would like to use a sub-domain, and for that, you will have to create a subdomain using cPanel.

Let’s see how you can create a subdomain using cPanel :

Before installing WordPress, you can create a subdomain in cPanel by going through the following steps :

Step 1 # Creating Subdomain

1# Login to cPanel using your admin details.

2 # On the cPanel dashboard, you can see a Domains section just by scrolling down a bit. In this section, click on the Subdomains option.


3 # Type the subdomain name you want for your site and then click on create to make it live.

Your subdomain is now ready. You can now install WordPress using Softaculous on the subdomain you just created to create a website or blog.

Step 2 # Installing WordPress with Softaculous

Follow these steps to install WordPress on a subdomain:

1 # Go to the cPanel homepage and search for Softaculous Apps Installer. Click on it.


2 # Softaculous will display different top scripts. If you don’t see WordPress in the search box, please search for it.


3# Click on WordPress to Fill in all information in the various text boxes.

4 # Select the appropriate protocol from this list. Choose https:// or www if you have installed an SSL certificate already on your website.

Otherwise, select http:// or http://www if you don’t have an SSL certificate. To continue the installation process.


5 # Select the subdomain in the Choose Domain box list.


6 # Note: Make sure that you leave the Directory text box empty.

7 # Now enter the Website name, and in the Admin user text box, insert the administrator username.


In the Admin Password text box, insert the administrator password (use a strong password). After that, select your preferred language.

8 # To limit the number of login attempts, check the Limit Login Attempts box. The security of your WordPress installation increases by limiting the number of login attempts.

9 # To expand Advanced options, click on the (+) icon.

10 # Don’t want to receive email notifications? Then disable it by selecting Disable Update Notifications checkbox.

However, we believe that you should be notified by email when updates would present for your application. This will help to keep your site up-to-date and prevent data loss.

11 # Create a new database by giving it a name in the Database Name text box, or you can also accept the default value.

12 # If you want automatically update for your application to do so, select Auto Update Checkbox.

13 #Automatic Upgrade WordPress Themes – By checking this box, the active WordPress theme will be automatically updated to the most recent version of the script installation is upgraded.

14 # Softaculous will perform automated backups via CRON based on the frequency that you choose, whether it is once per day, once per week, or once per month.

15 # Backup rotation – Softaculous will delete any backups for this installation that exceed the backup rotation limit and create a new backup. Backups consume space.

You need to select the backup rotation according to the space available on your server.


16 # You are about to finish the task; just select the WordPress theme that best suits you and click on Install to start the WordPress installation on your subdomain.

17 # Using the web browser, visit the subdomain you just created. You should see the WordPress home page.
